Eastern Coffee Roasters Brings New Life to Cheney’s Historic Train Depot

Sometimes the most meaningful journeys come full circle.

Eastern Coffee Roasters is honored to share that we will soon be opening our flagship coffeehouse and roastery inside Cheney’s historic train depot—a nearly century-old landmark that was once at risk of demolition and is now being restored as a vibrant community gathering place. Recently featured by KXLY News 4 Now, the story highlights not just a building, but a decade-long effort by the Cheney Depot Society and local supporters to preserve an important piece of our town’s history.

A Historic Building Saved by Community

Originally built in 1929, the Northern Pacific Railroad depot played a vital role in Cheney’s growth and connection to the region. After years of uncertainty, the structure was carefully relocated and restored—thanks to passionate community members who refused to let it disappear. What was once scheduled for demolition is now being transformed into something meaningful again: a place for people to gather, connect, and create new memories. We couldn't move into such an amazing space if it weren't for the dedicated volunteers of the Cheney Depot Society.

Why Eastern Coffee Roasters Chose the Depot

When we first walked through the depot, we knew immediately—this was home.

As a family-owned, Eastern Washington-based coffee company, our mission has always been bigger than coffee. It’s about:
